Ms Dodia has worked on a variety of cybersecurity projects as an RA:
 

  • She is the first author of an ACM Computer and Communications Security (CCS) 2022 paper
    Title: Exposing the Rat in the Tunnel: Using Traffic Analysis for Tor-based Malware Detection. As part of the R&D, she trained Machine Learning and Deep Learning models and engineered features to fingerprint Tor-based malware activity.

 

  • Threat hunting and enterprise log analysis on Qatar Ministry Of Interior network logs resulting in exposing ransomware leaks in the data (Wannacry and BadRabbit).

 

  • Full stack web development (7 months) for Sijil: an enterprise log analytics platform developed for MOI-Qatar.

 

  • Machine Learning and feature engineering for identifying malicious combo squatting domains resulting in a high precision random forest classifier

During her 4 month internship, Ms Dodia worked closely with the Applications Security and Network Security depts. at AJN.

 

  • She assisted the team in big data storage, analysis and visualization of blacklisted domains using tools and technologies such as: Elasticsearch, Kibana, JQuery and D3.js

 

  • She helped develop an internal firewall to filter spam emails containing the blacklisted domains and URLs

Ms Dodia produced a co-authored conference paper, a poster and a US patent resulting from her Master Thesis research work.

Title: Sorting the Garbage: Filtering Out DRDoS Amplification Traffic in ISP Networks.

  •  She presented the paper at the IEEE Network Softwarization Conference held in Paris, France in 2019.
     

  • Following this, she presented her poster and a demo of the working prototype at the ACM CCS held in London, UK in 2019.


As part of her thesis work, she researched Software Defined Networks (SDNs) and used the architecture to develop a prototype SDN firewall application to filter out amplification traffic generated in denial of service attacks.
